Sara Gagliardi is a newly elected Colorado State House representative for house District 27. She and her husband Jack have been Arvada residents for 17 years and she has been a registered nurse for over 23 years. Sara has served on the executive board of SEIU Local 105, serving on their executive board, and as a steward for the local chapter. Sara has also been an active member of her community, serving as president of the Arvada Business Women's Association and with the local PTA.
Ira Chernus is Professor of Religious Science at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he has also served as Co-Director of Peace and Conflict Studies Program. He is the author of several books including American Nonviolence: The History of an Idea. In his latest book, Monsters to Destroy: The Neoconservative War on Terror and Sin, he shows how the idea of the of the 'war on Terrorism" is directly related to the conservative view of religion and moral virtue that dominates the Bush Adminstation. He explains how this view of life creates a need for enemies, treats those enemies as inhuman monsters, and reinforces the insecurity it claims to be protecting us against. Thus liberals who support the idea of war on terrorism are unwittingly advancing long term interests of the conservative domestic agenda
Dave Chandler was the Green Party candidate for U.S. House of Representatives for Colorado's Seventh Congressional District in 2002 and 2006. He and his family have made their home in Arvada, Colorado for over fifteen years. He is a stay-at-home dad and is the editor of www.Earthside.com. Dave ran for Congress on a peace platform, opposing the U.S. attack on Iraq and the ongoing occupation. Dave will share his thoughts on why the war is a bipartisan issue.
