Well Attended Vigil Anniversary

Fifty people dedicated to peace and bringing U.S. troops back home from Iraq attended the second anniversary commemoration of the peace vigil held every Saturday afternoon in Arvada.

Guest speakers Ira Chernus, state representative Sara Gagliardi, and Dave Chandler delivered impassioned speeches urging and end to the violence in Iraq, a recommitment to peace in U.S. foreign policy, and getting the U.S. military out of foreign entanglements.

The honking from passing cars seemed especially supportive on Saturday.

The vigil is held every Saturday from noon until one o'clock at the intersection of 52nd Ave. and Wadsworth Blvd. in Arvada ... everyone is invited to join this simple effort to promote peace.

Last weekend at 52nd & Wadsworth was a wonderful way to honor a great group of vigileers whose unselfish sacrifices over the last two years made a difference in the last election and continue today.

As one who has attended the majority of weekends for the last approx 18 months or so, I salute Cindy especially.

I don't think it would have happened without her determination.

Since I and Ken DeBacker started the Weekly Vigils To Impeach a couple of months ago I have found it harder to get to our Corner on Saturday.

After doing two-three vigils per week during the week with our group, it's tough to find the energy and time to do it all.

Our group will only be in existence for a few months, and is probably going to disappear by November, as

Impeachment must be accomplished by then or I doubt it will happen.

After that I'll be back at our corner. Until then it my attendance will be a bit sporadic.

Could you please do a fellow 52nd vigileer a favor.

Thursday Noon Vigil at US Rep. DeGette's Office at E 6th & Grant for the same reason... to get her to vote to bring home the Troops and Impeach Bush & Cheney.

We have signs or bring your own.
We do the same thing CCFP does so the same signs would work perfectly.
