From Colorado Citizens for Peace organizer, Cindy Lowry:
The end of 2006 was a challenging time for the peace vigil held at 52nd Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard every Saturday from noon to 1:00 P.M. Mother Nature hit the Denver area twice with blizzards -- one just a few days before Christmas and the second one on the eve of New Years' Eve.With those dark snowy days in mind, we were pleased at the sunshine that greeted us for our 2nd Anniversary held on February 25. Colorado Citizens for Peace had keynote speakers Dave Chandler; Sara Gagliardi, and Ira Cherus for that well attended event. You can read an account of the anniversary and see photos here.
Just a bit earlier that month, on February 12, the Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center and Colorado Citizens for Peace held a workshop titled "The Language for Peace" at the Arvada United Methodist Church. There were 12 people who attended this event from around the surrounding Denver area.
In March and April, a few of our members joined with other folks from Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center to put pressure on Colorado's Congressional representatives to end funding for the U.S. occupation of Iraq.
In early July we collected a donation of $100 for the "March for Peace" group.
Presently, we have again been in contact with the ACLU about how the City of Arvada and the Harvest Festival Commission are making it difficult for "political groups" to participate in the September parade ... more details on that later.
A 'Drive by Impeachment' table is now available for mototists passing the vigil. Petitions calling for the impeachment of Bush and Cheney are available for signing inside the parking lot behind the vigil line east of Wadsworth.
We are presently working on bringing a symbolic coffin to the vigil to remind the general public about the constant loss of young men's and women's lives lost daily in Iraq.
We are also looking into having the 'Eyes Wide Open' exhibit highlighting the Colorado lives lost in Iraq this fall at a location in Arvada or some other nearby city.
Finally, for now, we are going to have a 'Non-violence Training' on September 29, 2007, at the Aravda United Methodist Church starting at 1:30 P.M. and going to about 3:30. A donation for the workshop will probably be suggested at $5 ... but we will take whatever anyone can donate.
More details about upcoming events can always be found here at this web site.
Thanks to everyone for their commitment to peace and ending the war and occupation of Iraq.
And ... an invitation to all those dedicated to peace to to join us every week:

I had a desire to make my own company, but I did not have enough amount of money to do that. Thank heaven my close mate suggested to utilize the personal loans. So I received the collateral loan and made real my dream.
